About the Owner

Hi, my name is Kyle Jacques!

I grew up in California where my parents insisted that being involved with sports was critical for my development. I may not have always agreed, but I would probably not be here without the doors it opened. In my teen years the church we attended started a program. People with and without disabilities were offered the opportunity to come together and practice martial arts. As an assistant instructor, I was able to witness the physical and mental growth of everyone who joined. We got some exercise, made friends, and learned a craft. Meanwhile, school was a battle, but it would ultimately lead me to starting Hamkeh LLC.

I hit the standard school curriculum like a dirt bike to the freeway. I believed that I had a lot to offer. Frustratingly, it constantly felt like the road was built for someone else. As a result, it was not very enjoyable. Later in life, I was diagnosed with dyslexia. This new information came with the discovery of tools to utilize my unique perspective rather than suppress it.

My career started as a mechanic where I daydreamed about inventing new car parts. With the blessing of new tools and support, I was able to make a transition that seemed impossible, engineering school. Here, my eyes were opened to the role that adaptive design could play. I was privileged to design a tricycle for a child who was unable to walk. Seeing his independence and bright smile shaped my view of what is worth working toward.

Eventually, I became an automotive engineer, developing exciting new engines. I moved to Michigan where I met my wife. The need for more inclusive equipment continued to arise. We have decided to devote ourselves to the challenge. We are excited to bring that equipment to life.

Many of us have a special purpose. The freeway just might not be the best way to get there. My hope is to create new tools and support for others. I hope you access your goals and enjoy the journey.
